Missions

African Network Of Prayer Newsletter

Does it matter if we are specific when we pray? I believe it does, because God answers specifically. Each month a country will be featured for focused prayer, for an unreached group or area. For the entire month, let us focus our hearts and prayers on that country, joining together to intercede for the lost.

Chad is the featured country for the month of May.
Republic of Chad
Official language Arabic – French
Population 2014- 12,809,000
Capital – N’Djamena
Official religion – None

Religion – Animists account for almost one-fifth of the population. Animism flourishes despite a diversity of beliefs; a widespread common feature is the socio-religious initiation of young people into adult society. Slightly more than one-fifth of the population is Christian, primarily Protestant or Roman Catholic. In Chad, as elsewhere, Christian missionary work has not greatly affected the Muslim population, it has rather been directed toward the animist population.
FOCUSED PRAYER: Focus our prayers on the country of Chad and ask God to call, equip and send an Apostolic missionary with the saving message of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38) to the people of Chad. Pray that God will prepare the hearts and minds of the Chadian people to be receptive to the Acts 2:38 message, and that they would receive the Truth of the Word of God.
“Then the Lord said to Elijah, “Go to the east and hide…drink from the brook…So Elijah did as the Lord told him…” (1 Kings 17:2-5 NLT).
In order for us to be effective in our prayers, we must have the two qualities that were part of Elijah’s lifestyle. We must be willing to HEAR God and to OBEY Him no matter the cost.

      PRAISE REPORTS

We are rejoicing at the great things God is doing in Africa and also rejoicing for the end of deputation for missionaries Ken and Ginny Cantrell, who are returning to Burkina Faso on May 13, and with missionary Colleen Carter, returning to Ghana in May.
Togo – 48 received the Holy Spirit during the Easter National Conference and also praising God for 24 new licensed preachers for the harvest field.
Ivory Coast – 346 received the Holy Spirit during the Easter National Conference.
Democratic Republic of Congo – Throughout the country in local churches, a total of 164 were baptized in Jesus’ name and 71 received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Cameroon – Praise God for 4 that received the Holy Ghost at a Ladies Conference in Banga-Bakundu. A total of 9 were baptized in Jesus name in Douala, and 24 received the Holy Ghost at the Fako Sectional Convention, and many were healed.
“We are praising God for answered prayer! We just signed a rental contract on a church building on the main road and it has enough rooms for Sunday school! It is an unfinished block house with dirt floors, so we will need to pour cement floors, plaster the walls, etc., as we can but we are happy to be out of the weather and on the main Douala road! Thank you Jesus for a building to worship in, you knew the best place for us!”

Burkina Faso – 4 new village churches have been planted in the Kienpalgo Region since the first of the year.

Liberia – Praising God that the Ebola situation is fading away slowly for Liberia, and we thank God that in the next few weeks, the World Health Organization will declare Liberia free from Ebola.

“We are thankful to God that after nearly a year since our National Headquarters’ high school got burned, the Sinkor UPC Headquarters leadership is nearing completion of the two-story building as the new high school structure. Thanking God that revival fires are still burning in our local churches of the United Pentecostal Church of Liberia.”

 PRAYER REQUESTS

Cameroon
Pray for the ministerial development fellowship, that it will continue to grow and be effective.

Gabon
Pray for peace to reign in the country of Gabon.

Burkina Faso
The military is still running the country as our government has been dissolved until October. Tensions are high as the politicians are jockeying. The city is going 3-4 days without power. We simply need the peace of God to rest on Burkina Faso until a new government is in place.
Equatorial Guinea
Pray for the legalization of the church property in Malabo.
Pray for construction of the church in Malabo. (We must replace the wood with bricks).
Pray for our daughters Bernice and Favour, for God’s protection and guidance.

Democratic Republic of Congo
Pray for the finalization of church papers at the Ministry of Justice.

Pray for the work of evangelism and church planting that are taking place in the Eastern Province of Doko, and in the Katanga Province.                                                                                                  Pray for the end to some internal church troubles.

Ghana
Pray for God’s favor to be on our nationwide Children’s Week the first of May and that many will experience their new birth.
Central African Republic
Pray for peace in Bambari, as the church is trying to get started again after the civil war. Pastor Bertin had 24 in service there recently.

South Sudan
Pray for our monthly Leadership Training Seminars, that these sessions will bear much fruit as training is vital to growth of this infant church. Also pray for the safety of all those attending the seminars as the situation is still somewhat unstable in South Sudan politically. One of our pastor’s brothers was recently shot and killed as he traveled to a nearby town.
